Making REALLY cheap phonecalls
By fiLi • Mar 27th, 2006 • Category: General tipsI bet you use Skype (Link) for your international phonecalls to land/mobile lines, right? That’s pretty good, or has been, for a while now. But, I think you should be aware of a few recent choices that offer the same service for a lot cheaper.
Yahoo’s new messenger has outgoing Voice calls to land/mobile at sometimes half the rates of Skype (Link)
Lycos’s phone (Link) offers some sweet deals with free minutes and cheap rates, but especially regarding registering a phone number for your computer for free (for some western countries).
But, better yet, for those who are calling countries like the USA and Canada (for land and mobile), or Taiwan and England (for land lines only) - can use a completely FREE service (Link1, Link2). (Good quality, no catch that I’ve seen… too bad they don’t have that for Israel, but it’s good for my international friends.)
If you’ve got an Internet connection, there’s really no need for you to pay as much as you pay now for your calls to land and mobile lines. Just get used to talking from your PC, that’s all.
If you can’t give up using the regular phone, then a few Internet phone companies offer you a differnt solution. Check out Jajah to see how you can call from a regular phone to a regular phone using similiar rates. Put in your number and the destination’s number and they’ll do the geeky techie stuff for you.
