Miss Earth 2007 - East Asia

Miss Earth 2007 is coming up, and since it’s been a while since I had anything here that’s “hot” and “sexy”…

Mao, Ho Chi Minh and Asian History

Leaving London and having a few moments to spare at the Heathrow Airport to get rid of my remaining pounds, I entered the book shop and looked for something interesting to read. After consulting with the young lady about a good China related read she referred me to the then recently published "Mao - The Unknown Story", a heavy-weight book written by Jung Chang (and her historian husband) who’s famous for her previous China history autobibliographic epic "Wild Swans".

Miss World 2006 : Asia

Yeah, I know, I know. I’m disappointed too.

“We” were all hoping for either an Asian or an Israeli Miss World winner…

I could never make out the differences between Miss Universe and Miss World, but it doesn’t matter much does it? In the Miss Universe 2006 post some guy pinged back to my post writing that all the Asian girls looked the same, which was funny because it was exactly the opposite from what I was thinking posting them. I think you can’t really say that about the girls from Miss World, can you?

The Saigon Times…

It came out of no where – bang! … silence in the air, us two contemplating the option. Crazy thoughts running inside, trying to grasp the meaning and details of the proposal just made. Gradually, stares turn into smiles and small head-nodes suggest that it’s something doable. A great spontaneous idea, just the kind of ideas that make everything worth while.

“Today, in the hotel, I talked to my travel agent friend from Singapore. He makes reservations for his costumers and today he told me there are really cheap flights from Saigon to Singapore”. Women’s shopping heaven

My second marriage proposal in three days, this time from the receptionist in my Hotel. We had a small ceremony at the front desk with her receptionist friend as bridesmaid and from that point I started calling Tam “wife” as she now calls me “husband”. Isn’t a fake marriage the best way to start off a city? The guys from the Hue hotel I was staying at suggested they’d book me this really neat hotel with a swimming pool for 15$ in advance, but I wasn’t sure I’d like the room.
