Just like home, but completely different : An Israeli couple blogs on China

While the other Israeli blogs on China are disappearing, it’s nice to find new ones. Naama and Zohar left to southern China and have been writing about their lives in a new Hebrew blog translated "Just like home, but completely different".
Here’s a quick translation from their introduction:

When we went to study Humanities, we didn’t think much of it. "What ever will be will be" we told ourselves. "We’re going to need a Masters in something, so why not enjoy ourselves in the meanwhile?", so here - not too many years …

Quick notes about the Israeli blogference

The Israeli blogference was a 2 day conference about the local and international blogging world. I arrived late at the end of the 2nd day with my personal Taiwanese blog-expert. I didn’t attend any of the seminars and presentations, but still - here are some quick notes about the short time I was there:

More people know me than I thought - I’m an Israeli blogosphere anonymous, and yet - somehow - people seemed to know who I am, or at least know some of my Israeli online activities. As I was talking to people, someone would pass by and the person I …

Violet introduces Israel to the Taiwanese

Yes! I finally know a TV celebrity. Violet, the lovely Taiwanese-Israeli girl who’s writing a blog about her Israeli life in Traditional Chinese, is taking the Taiwanese people for a tour of Israel - "Violette would take you to - Jerusalem, Dead Sea, Yafa, … and MORE!", featuring in a (popular?) Taiwanese travel show called "World’s no. 1" on GalaTV (channel 27).
More details here, translated here (Youtube for us Israeli folks anyone?).
Looking forward to seeing more Taiwanese in Israel. Go Violet!

China-Israel related quick links : Feb 10th

Here is a quick roundup of great blog and media articles I read today regarding China and Israel.

Haaretz has an interesting story about "Harbin’s Jews: Isle of calm for embattled nation"

At the end of January, a group of Israeli journalists arrived at the sub-provincial city of Harbin, capital of the Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. [...] The invitation to the Israeli journalists was not accidental. The Chinese wish to expand cooperation between Israel and China and to place Harbin on the map for Israeli and Jewish tourists.

Yael Islam, an Israeli in China, who writes at the Israeli China forum is going to Harbin-China to visit her grandfather’s hometown :

[...] I’m interested because my grandfather was born in …

Is Chinabounder’s “Sex and Shanghai” back?!

Remember the "Sex and Shanghai" blog written by Chinabounder about his sexual adventures in Shanghai that was forced to close down and hide out due to a collaborative hunt by the China netizens? a story covered by almost all the big China blogs and the very keen international media? If you don’t, take a re-read of the "China : Sex, Pride and a bit about Israel" summary and the "The immoral foreign blogger" ESWN where the whole unbelievable story began.
Some said it was a hoax, some said it was for real, some were big fans, some were utterly upset, some couldn’t care less. Those who joined the story too late didn’t have a chance to really …

Add the China/Taiwan Blog Search to your IE/Firefox web-browser

Last weekend I introduced the China and Taiwan Blog Search tools. Due to extremely positive feedback, I’ve added a very simple way to add this search to your personal web-browser, on either Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and Mozilla Firefox 2 (FF2) which both have intergrated search toolbars.

-
It quite simple. I’ve tweaked automatic installation for anybody visiting my blog. Some of you might have noticed that your search toolbars look a bit different now - they’re highlighted, which means they discovered the new search engines I added. Here’s what it looks like :
Discover it with Internet Explorer 7
