I can’t help it. I find the question of whether Taiwan is more similar to Israel or Palestine intriguing, even though one can also easily claim that it’s similar to both or to neither. Aluf Ben has an interesting article in Haaretz from a few days back titled “The Taiwan of the Middle East” :

Sino-phobia is now all over Israeli media and I promised to continue with a few more examples. Here’s another one from a relatively well-known news show with a well respected news reporter, taking her time to lecture the Israelis against China and the Olympics, almost on prime time. Here’s from Keren Noybah in Channel 1’s [...]

The anti-China atmosphere surrounding the Olympics has reached, IMHO, an all time high. Never have I seen so many people talk so negatively about China as I have in the past week. And some general funky goofing around …

The Jaffa flee market [...]

In that place rests the person who became especially famous after Spielberg’s Oscar winning film “Schindler’s List”, Oskar Schindler, for rescuing Jews during the second world war Nazi rule. What looks a bit different , you’ll probably notice, is [...]

Israeli newspapers are all over the success of the Israeli headed Koolanoo group in China with the third largest social website called 360Quan. Koolanoo, in case you were wondering, means “all of us” in Hebrew, and I believe the whole thing actually started out with a Jewish social network cloned into Chinese. How bizarre.

360Quan [...]

I’ve seen it on a number of websites and blogs before (example), but today was the first time I saw an English translation of this viral map summarizing how Taiwanese people perceive the world (click on it for a larger view).

I can vouch for the “War” “Desert” part about the middle east.
