Ko Samoi

Bangkok Airways flight from a remote Navy airbase near Pattaya at U-Tapeo (2500), and I’m at Ko-Samoi. I think it was all just too much at Ko-Samet. It was too quiet, too simple, too lonely, and anyway - I can always tell myself I came here for Passover.

It all looks so different… Categories : b-thailand b-kosamui

This is my beach

There’s no one around, there’s nothing at the horizon. There’s only the sound of the splashing waves and the feeling of cold sand under my feet and in between my toes. Breathing in slow rhythm, wind blows my hair, I close my eyes and fly away. This is all mine… this is my beach! Everyday, starting at 04:30am I stroll around with some beloved local Babbys that seem to want my human company and I admire my conquest. Slowly, red and orange colors appear and the horizon wakes up with heavenly light between the clouds. That’s when you feel alive, that’s when you feel dead… that’s when you just feel…

Later on in the day, I let other people use …

The Gilad-hiker Guide to the Thai-laxy - Noise (part 2)

Couldn’t sleep last night. Just couldn’t. Can some people really sleep with all that noise?

Here’s a small taste of what you might encounter:
The Knocker - at first, when I heard it while sundown at Pai, I actually thought someone was knocking on my door. I checked and there was no one. Second time, I thought some one was playing tricks on me. But after 5 minutes, it came from all over the place. Imagine a hundred people knocking on your door, unregulary. Knockers, they’ll knock your brains out.The Dentist - this is actually what Wats refere to as Meditation noise. For me, it’s the loudest quiet there is. It that drill sound you hear while your dentist messes up your …

Pataya - sincity

One-two-go flight to Bangkok (1500) then a 2 hours local bus-ride to south-east Pataya (90). Lonely Planet said that I should stay away and just drive through, so I had to come here and see.

I arrived late at night and was completely utterly shocked by this place. If there’s a tourist hell then this is what it might look like. Giagentic pubs, huge clubs, super-fancy resturants, extremely loud music, many rich-fat-ugly-white folks with stuning thai-girls, countless dancers/whores, masses of drunk German-British-Russian people, sky-high prices. What a culture difference from the north.

Is this what the islands are like?! is this the Sex-Thailand everyone was talking about? arrrr…

I’m generally headed towards Ko-Samet but I got to ‘figure’ this place out first. I’ve …

Business and ethics - lesson 14 - Thailand/massage/men

(R-Rated without going into too much detail.)

“However, therein lies a dilemma. Because, when it comes to the subject of me, I believe you are truly and utterly incapable of telling the truth, especially to me, and least of all, to yourself. And, when it comes to the subject of me, I am truly and utterly incapable of believing anything you say.” (The words of my mentor)

It doesn’t matter how naive you are and what you’re looking for. In Thailand’s big cities there a complex concept of what a massage is. Yesterday, after the long wet drive back from the Golden Triangle, my body was in ruins and all I needed was a good massage to fix me up. I walked …

Thailand - A WAR zone

I knew it could be dangerous, but I had no idea it could get this bad. When the guys at the guest house heard that I was heading to the border on a motorbike they notified me of some Opium druglords that are fighting the authorities near the border and suggested that I should stick to the main road and the main cities and that I should only travel at day time. All foot-trek tours in the area are cancelled till everything cools down. I’ve also heard some tourists talk about some terrorist attack down south near the Malaysien border. I thought - “Nothing to it… feels like home…” but then…

It’s everywhere, it’s everyone, and there’s no way you can …
