On China National 60th anniversary, Hong Kong ran an insane fireworks display that went on for about 23 minutes all around Victoria Harbor. Starting from 6:30pm all traffic to through to the harbor was stopped, and the police took charge of all pedestrian roads surrounding the harbor. My location was just off the Central piers, coming back from Cheung Chau island, but still – we got some of that special atmosphere. Seems like whether the HK locals feel truly Chinese during that day or not (my few HK friends – “not”), they’ve all done their best to enjoy the day off and make the most of the millions of HK$ invested in this spectacular.
