You can argue all you want about Chinese food, but I’ve yet to hear about someone who doesn’t like Dim Dum, and there’s no place for Dim Sum like Hong Kong (and Taiwan, and China, but I’m in HK now, so let’s make it about Hong Kong).

To enjoy the best of what local Dim Sum cuisine has to offer we followed a warm recommendation and ventured into one of the oldest tea houses in Hong Kong operating since 1933 :

Luk Yu Tea House, 24-26 Stanley St. Central, +852-2523-5464 (very close to Lan Kwai Fong)

A Chinese tea-house, apparently, is where the Dim Sum scene is happening.

The place itself is pretty neat, old colonial Hong Kong style.

You sit down and wait till the old ladies come walking around with the latest Dim Sum from the kitchen shouting out their offerings to the crowd.

More on Luk Yu Tea House :

I also received a recommendation on Twitter to checkout the nearby Lin Heung Tea House on 160-164 Wellington st. +852-2544-4556, if you’re looking for another one.

BTW – Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has some really cheap Dim Sum that isn’t half bad. If you ever come by during lunch time, check out LG1…

That last photo, in case you were wondering, is chicken feet. I told my Chinese friend I couldn’t so he devoured the whole thing himself exclaiming "Chicken feet is the most delicious food on earth". If you say so, mate, I believe you.
