If you want to have a look of Guangzhou from above, Baiyun – White Cloud Mountain is the place you need to go. There’s a cable care that takes you up to almost the top where you can chill out, hike, and enjoy the views on a clear day.

Unfortunately, as you can see, catching Guangzhou – one of the world’s most polluted cities – on a clear day is a bit tricky. With my luck, it was a hot humid and rainy summer day, so the actual views of Guangzhou were quite limited.

We took off going down the mountain…

It was 5 minutes after the food arrived that a very strong Monsoon started pouring down on us and we had to hide under our leaking umbrella for about an hour or so.

Once we were stuffed and the rain calmed down, we made our way down the mountain and back to central Guangzhou, where we figured we deserved a long massage for doing all that nothing all day. If there’s one thing I really like about Guanghzou it’s that you can find a terrific 70 minutes massage in a 5 stars looking joint for about 40 yuan. I think even Thailand can’t compete with that.
