It’s hard to say what Ocean Park is. Is it an amusement park? a zoo? an aquarium sea-world? while there is some problem defining what it is, there’s no doubt it’s  terrific fun and a wonderful day out in Hong Kong.

I’ll start off with one of the best videos I ever took.

(I hope you’ll appreciate the effort of riding a rollercoaster while holding out a video camera)

Taking the bus from Admiralty (tip – MTR offers discounts for Ocean Park in the MTR travel booth, around 180HK$ per adult), we arrived at the back entrance and started making our way up through the long 45 degrees inclining escalators.

On the way, a few aviaries, ponds and lakes. Honestly, not as nice as the ones in Hong Kong Park.

Since it was a Sunday (a day I suggest you try and avoid if you’re coming), most of the attractions had long lines. Still, the amusement park bit up on the top was terrific with the Hong Kong Island superb views adding that extra twist to make even the lamest attractions worth the wait.

The sea-world aquarium bit was not half bad. Quite entertaining.

Going up on some of the rides, Hong Kong unveiled its landscape glory.

Top rides include the rollercoaster, the Abyss (a long drop from the sky) and other gravity defying attractions.

We then took the long cable car going down to the last part. The views of Repulse Bay and Stanley were breathtaking.

The last bit hosted one of the park "biggest attractions" – the Giant Panda, which – at the time of our arrival – was taking a long exciting nap.

On the way back, exhausted, we had ourselves some delicious Vietnamese food.
