The Battle of Red Cliff (part 1 and part 2) is absolutely brilliant. Perfect. To me – it’s as good as it gets. There aren’t many films that I leave with an incredible "WOW" effect, but this one did it … twice.
John Woo did a superb job. It’s been over 2 months since I’ve seen the second part of Red Cliff and I still remember most of it in great detail, constantly looking up more info on Zhu-ge Liang and Zhou Yu, reading about the three kingdoms and asking my Chinese friends what they know about that time of history and what they thought of the movie. If you’re even slightly interested in anything remotely related to Chinese culture and history, most chances you will enjoy this as much as I did.
The grand strategy battle between iconic master-minds. History is sometimes larger than any fiction. Go see it.
