I've been up there 4 times already, on different occasions with different people and it was always a very pleasant experience. If you ever get the chance - go up there. Like most things in Taiwan - I believe it's fairly priced for the touristic experience, much lower than many other world attractions (London Eye, for example, is around 17GBP ~ 900NT$).
