Lingoes - Free Translation Software That Works

There are some great translation tools out there but Lingoes is by far the most useful one that I’ve been using lately. Based on a concept similar to the pricy Israeli-based Babylon this software will translate any language to any language in any software you run on your PC, using three methods – either use a keyboard-mouse combo (“Cursor Translator”),  simply select the word you wish to translate (“Zoned Word Translator”) or copy it to the clipboard (“Clipboard Translator”). The nicest feature, IMHO, is that you can highlight sentences and not only words, and it will go online to fetch a translation from translation engines.

It includes an endless collection of dictionaries and thesauruses (here’s Traditional Chinese, Hebrew and English). And, it’s all completely free.

I used to use Kingsoft powerword but found that to be too buggy. I switched to “Interpret Chinese-English” by loqu8 but found that to be resource hungry and freezes a lot. I hope this one is better, I will try it now.

Hey Fili, I’m also an Israeli that living in Taiwan, taichung (臺中).
this program is great, but the traditional dictionaries are not as good as the simplified one (try the Jukuu Bilingual Sentence Searcher- it’s great if you’re study Chinese).

actually I still think that the best dictionary is Wenlin (文林).
you can download it on bitorrent…
    Keep up the great work!
