On the way back from the East Coast tour I stopped at a small little town called Chihpen (or Zhi Ben), perhaps one of the most famous locations for hotsprings in Taiwan. The town is absolutely overwhelmed with all kinds of hotsprings, and it’s one of the few places in Taiwan I ran into aggressive touts trying to lure me to their place.

I made my way to the Hotel Royal Chihpen, a 4-5 stars hotel with a big collection of pools and hotsprings of various flavors, and for surprisingly cheap. You can soak all you want for ~150NT$ (4-5US$).

Let’s see if I can remember all the types they had.

There was that regular pool, with slides and all…

There were salty ones…

Bubbly ones… boiling hot ones…

Alovera (Green), Rosemary (purple), and a few other herbs and flowers … (private Saunas in the back for couples)

You’re wondering where all the people are, aren’t you? I was too. There was just another couple there that didn’t stop staring at me, as if I’m interfering with something :P Anyways, I was told it’s packed on the weekends.

Overall, a really cool (I mean, hot) place. Check it out if you’re in the area.

Hi. May I know whether the Jhihben hot spring is open to public other than the hotel guests? And how much does it cost per person?
