The typhoon’s here, and although Tainan somehow continues to stay away from all the big problems on the island, there’s still a lot of rain that makes it a bit more difficult for the Taiwanese to express their inner selves with artistic BBQing.
But, not to worry, if we can’t do it outdoors, we’ll do it indoors.
Meet Mrs. Xiao, what you might call a Taiwanese “aunt”, who – whenever you have some free time – will cook you all the Taiwanese local food you can eat.
This is her moon festival layout :
The salad, I think, was a special touch for my foreign taste. And, ofcourse, there were home made drinks, ice puddings and various types of treats I would probably fail to explain.Even though my non existent Taiwanese skills kept our conversation to a minimum, she was still adorably understanding and hospitable.
Always smiling, forever in good mood… there’s Taiwanese hospitality for you.

You are right. Moon cake is also a kind of so-called gabbage food, just like hamburge, fried chips, etc.
