Innovation at NCKU : TOUCH Aspire Smart Home

As part of the visit of Technion president to NCKU, we were invited for a presentation of a new project currently being developed in NCKU, combining Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design and Creative Design of professors from the Tainan area universities, led by NCKU.

I got permission to take a few videos and post them here. They are an incomplete sneak peek into what they’re doing, and I strongly recommend that you contact them for a tour if you find any of this interesting, as I did. One thing to note, this was all done within 4 months of development and is still in very early stages, so you’ll notice a few bugs. Further, the videos show what has no problem of patent rights so the more interesting things are actually not here. But, it will give you a general feel into things.

The topic – the future home, or rather a “smart’” home. Enjoy.

Entertainment center

What you can’t see here, is that the TV, although there are no 3D glasses or gadgets, is truly 3D.

The bedroom-washroom and the “Magic Mirror”

The kitchen

The interactive kitchen table

Study room : interactive desk and the “library-window”

Environment and leisure

Message center

The project, as far as my limited understanding goes, has just received a National Science Council budget of 5 million US$.
