This is a bit far-fetched, even for me, but fascinating nonetheless. Here’s some of the story from Oniazuma :

Israeli officials publicly acknowledge the mysterious similarities between Judaism and Japan. Recently, in March of 2007, Rabbi Avichail of the Israeli Investigative Body Amishav, which searches for descendants of the Lost Tribes, arrived in Japan. Although they only stayed for a short amount of time, the investigative body concluded that "There is no doubt that there is some kind of strong connection between Judaism and Japan. More research is needed to determine the details."

Now, what do you say about that?

Arimasa Kubo has more (part 2 here):

Japan and the Lost Tribes of Israel : Surreal Jewish-Japanese connections

The ancient kingdom of Israel, which consisted of 12 tribes, was in 933 B.C.E. divided into the southern kingdom of Judah and the northern kingdom of Israel. The 10 tribes out of 12 belonged to the northern kingdom and the rest to the southern kingdom. The descendants from the southern kingdom are called Jews. The people of the northern kingdom were exiled to Assyria in 722 B.C.E. and did not come back to Israel. They are called "the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel." They were scattered to the four corners of the earth. We find the descendants of the Israelites not only in the western world, but also in the eastern world especially along the Silk Road.

Surreal.

    Well, I don’t know.
I don’t really like the attempts to find Jews everywhere. It might be interesting historically to learn that a group of ancient Israelis have once reached Japan, and I guess it’s possible, but it’s hard to imagine they’ve had significant influence on Japanese culture.

Avichail finds Jews everywhere. He’d go to Mars and being indisputable proofs about Jewish descendants there.
The evidences shown here are unconvincing. I don’t think the mask remotely resembles anything found in Israel, and anyway, making masks and statues is forbidden in Judaism.
They make a mingle of Noah’s ark and the Lost ark of the temple, and mention some “Jewish festivals” I’ve never heard of.
    Very funny. sureal indeed

Rachel – I totally agree. Still, if you look it up on Google you’ll find quite a few sites detailing some of those connections. The Japanese TV show does this line of research a bit of injustice.
There is a whole line of research showing that many of the Jewish ceremonies are, ofcourse, Pagan, and the same naturally goes for Christianity and Constantine’s suggestions of what it should be like. It’s interesting…

Yuri – :) I’m sure that if we look deep enough we can even find something in Korea, don’t you think?

This shows that as a Jew or a Christian, our world is FAR smaller than we would hope to believe in our arrogance. To think that GOD would limit HIS influence to just the Middle East is foolish. To the Christian, the same applies when we consider that GOD is only speaking to the Western nations or just to the Jews. The Torah/Bible says:

“….And in your (Abraham) seed shall all the nations of the Earth be blessed….”- Genesis 22:15-18

“What if GOD, willing to show HIS wrath, and to make HIS power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction and that HE might make known the riches of HIS glory on the vessels of mercy, which HE had before prepared to glory, even us, whom HE has called not only the Jews but also the Gentiles? As HE says also in Hosea ‘I will call them MY people, which were not MY people; and her beloved, was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, you are not MY people; there shall they be called the children of the living GOD’”- Romans 9:22-25

Was it not the Prophets that said that the tribes would be scatter to the four corners of the Earth? Why would it be hard to believe that the Prophets were actually RIGHT!??

This is silly and certainly not scientific. Ever since WWII the Japanese have been searching for a renewed sense of national identity. They are very race conscious and as a result, rather racist.
Enough with the race based religions already!

2000 year old plus software for the consciousness of the 21st century is a farce! Take what is best from your past religion and stop quoting old revelators who lived within the social confines of thier day; patronizing, homophbic, anti-feminine, shell fish and pork abominating cultures. Let go of the past and look to the light of the future. Rememebr the best of your faith; love one another as yourselves, judge not, have no attachements…and love be humble!!!

    Let’s get over the TRIBALISM!!!!!!!!

Why do we re-write history in order to serve our tribal egos. Anyway-All the spiritual masters focused not on race which is a tribal/lower function of the human approach to being in the world, and more on LOVE and realizing the real battles are within ourselves, not others. The most important thing is not one’s origin which is not=race based, but the human race. (ps- I know a few people who are from the tribe of Levi and they are certainly not Dominican). You don’t need the bibles family trees to be proud/confident of who you are. What matters is, if you act with integrity -now!

Japan was established by a ruling class from “Beak-Jae” that is one of ancient Korea dynasty. It has become more and more obvious as archaeological remains are recently being found. Nowadays, even Japanese archaeologists admit Beak-Kae’s influences on Japan’s early kingdom. “Ni-Pon” which is Japan’s Japanese name was the name given by “Beak-Jea” dynasty. If you go to “Osaka” which is one of Japanese old capitals, you would still find many locations or names which are using the term “Beak-Jae”.

Many of Japanese culture had been implanted by Korean ancient dynasties. Of course, Korean and Japanese cultures look different now because many of Korean cultures and histories have been destroyed by China and Japan since the Modern Chosen that was the Korean kingdom before the Japanese colonial period.

Thus, Japan is not a descendent of Israel. If you like to insist that Japan is one of the lost tribes of Israel, you have to investigate the ancient Korean history first.

Old korean legend of a man general of some sorts named, Dan-gun was possiblely someone from the tribe of Dan. Started the first korean kingdom about 2333 BC. Brought over some things from Israel area. THe korean national flower is the Rose of Sharon which is originated from Middle east. There is small segment of the koreans in a certain section of korea that resemble another race. Possibly the people who came over. I just heard this from a documentary but not made by the major media outlets in korea, but form a biblical historian who wanted to find out if the Jews did travel from the middle east to Korea.

Curious – haven't heard that one. Though very interesting, this seems a bit far fetched to me :P you have any academic resources on that?

The theory that Dan-king(gun) was someone from the tribe of Dan is what is argued by Israel oriented scholars. For example a Israel embassor used to insist on the same theory.

However, many other people think Tan-king or Dan-king is more likely a descendent from Jok-Tan who is the lost Shem based on lingusitic studies and other historical and chronological similarities (for the record, chinese letter actually had made by Korean ancestor called “Dong-I”). Ancient Korea and Israel obviously have a lot of similarities, and might be related with each other some ways…
However, we cannot be sure what is the true because Japan and China have destroyed Korea history so much.

For the academic resource to look at how Japan has destroyed Korea history and lied about history, I recommend the book “Korean Impact on Japanese Culture: Japan's Hidden History”. The author is the first western people who got PhD in East Asia culture and she got the degree at UC Berkeley. After a half of a hundred study about East Asia culture, she found how much Japan has lied and she has revealed the hiden history at this book.

The part of your post which really made me lol LOL, was where you seem to think that every black person is American, or maybe it's just every black person decended from the tribes of Israel that is American?

    Either way, very lolworthy

Brunny – I think you might have misread into the post. I have no idea what you're referring to.
