India - Day 14 - Jaipur’s Amber Fort, Lake Palace, and Holy Saturday at Pushkar
Early, 7am, we got ready to head to my favorite Indian fort - Jaipur’s Amber Fort. That marble structure up on the mountains against the clouded blue skies looking down at the old city is a sight I’ll never forget. Ever.
The Taiwanese group visiting the place decided to take the easy way up on under-fed over-abused miserable-looking elephants. But, it’s a great photo-op nonetheless. In the entrance - the monkeys were playing around with the tourists.
On the way back to the city, we visited Jaipur’s unimpressive City Palace.
And, then again… we had a long long drive towards Pushkar, where we were going to spend the Jewish Holy Saturday with the small Jewish community that was formed there a few years back when Israelis overtook Pushkar as the chill-out smoke-yourself-to-death capital of northern India. The Israelis have since mostly moved elsewhere, but the small Chabad community still remains.
We got there just before Sunset and hurried down to the holy lake to catch the view. It was, peaceful. True tranquility.
