Touring Tainan : An Nan, Lu-er-man Temple and Taiwanese Holland

John of TheRealTaiwan, his family, and I went exploring around Tainan. Not really sure where to go, we thought we’d check out the mysterious spot on the Tainan map always pushed to the top left corner that goes by the name of An Nan. We drove around for a while till we spotted a huge temple from a far and made our way in that direction.

Arriving at the spot, next to the gorgeous temple, was a local Taiwanese celebration of Dutch culture - with signs of “Holland”, Taiwanese girls dressed as little Dutch, flowers and windmills everywhere.

After we finished touring Taiwanese Holland, we walked to the temple courtyard. The temple’s name is Lu-er-man and it’s one of the nicest temples I’ve seen so far. It’s really big, somewhat fancy, serving as a home to quite a few important Gods, and I think this Lu-er-man temple - and it turns out there’s more than one - is somehow connected to the Matsu Goddess.
