Tainan Anping beach sunset : The getting-married photo shooting

Living in central Tainan and studying at the eastern side where the university is at, one tends to forget that there’s a beach 10 minutes away. It’s not the nicest beach, especially in comparison to what’s in Israel or neighboring Asian countries like Thailand, but it’s a beach non-the-less – having the basic features of waves and sand.

Having spent too many hours in front of the computer in some Taiwanese coffee shop that was playing ultra religious English Christian Christmas songs which I’m sure non of the others there could understand (“Father loves us! he died for us!”) I decided to try and catch a Tainanese sunset at Anping.

Arriving there, it was almost empty, with only an elderly couple walking slowly holding hands. That was heart warming to watch. But, once the sunset started, something strange happened which I really wasn’t expecting. A rush of 5-6 about-to-get-married couples came in wearing their wedding clothing accompanied with a photographer and a guy holding a flash. They spent almost an hour posing for photos with the setting sun in the back.

And then, just before the sun was gone, they all quickly disappeared …
