Scholarship information for international students interested in the Taiwan scholarship and studying in Taiwan
Taiwan’s been trying to encourage foreign students to come and study in Taiwan and the number of scholarships offered are increasing. I’m currently studying for a graduate program in NCKU-Tainan-Taiwan with the National Science Council scholarship which is considered part of the more general “Taiwan scholarship” offering 30,000NT$ (equal to about 900US$) monthly for a period of 3 years. It’s a very simple and straight-forward scholarship.
Two weeks ago, southern Taiwan orientation for the various Taiwan scholarship holders was held at NCKU with some entertainment and information given about the regulations for the Taiwan scholarship. I thought it might be interesting for others, so I took a video of most of the event.
Here’s the lecture given by the manager of the NCKU students affairs office about the regulation, going almost bullet by bullet on all the Taiwan scholarship guidelines :
The rest of the lectures and performances given during this event are posted on the INCKU website for international students at NCKUU on “Taiwan scholarship orientation for the 2007-8 academic year“.
For more information about the general scholarships offered for studying in Taiwan, check out the Scholarships section on the “Study in Taiwan” site.

can you tellme how about the Taiwan Scholarship and Dragon Festival dinner?
Slik - I don’t follow your meaning. Tell you what?
It’s good to here the local Taiwan governement is doing something to bring more international students to Taiwan. Over the few years I’ve seen the governement putting this to the side. My concern is bring more international students to Taiwan to learn Chinese.

I wonder whether that policy is bringing the right type of international students and whether it would allow the good student that Taiwan wants to stay. From my short-term observations, it does not. There are some serious issues in the way this is being executed and the results shown so far.
Hopefully, that will change.
I would like to apply for the 2008 fall semester PhD scholarship in Taiwan unversities.
Would you please give me the required information?
Engida Dessalegn
from Ethiopia
Engida - all information is on the Taiwanese studyintaiwan website and on the links I posted for the Taiwanese universities. Good luck.
I already applied for the Phd scholarship, food and nutrition department,Providence university. But no Taiwan embassy in my country. The comminication is via Taiwan embassies in middle east or west Africa. If I get the acceptance from the university, can’t the visa, autentication, and other processes delayed to join 2008 fall semester?
Engida - I really wouldn’t now anything about such official matters. I suggest talking to the university’s Office of International Affairs or the Taiwan office you’re in contact with. They’ll probably be able to give you an official answer.
im very proud to have a scholarship to study in taiwan
is there no international scholaship for undergraduate student.
Gideon - the Taiwan scholarship is alway available for undergraduates for up to 4 years. Quite a scholarship.
See details in this link : http://www.moetwdc.org/English/Taiwan%20Scholarship.htm
In other universities, you’d have to check their websites. I know some do have support for international students.
