Introducing Israel to the Taiwanese students

The Taiwanese girl who’s the president of the NCKU IEAS student club, promoting international culture exchange, approached me a few weeks back and asked that I give an hour+ presentation about Israel. Without giving it much thought I agreed. Postponing everything to the last minute, I only started thinking about what to present the day of the presentation and was faced with the general problem of - what would Taiwanese students want to know about Israel? of all the things that Israel is about, where should I start?

Actually, this is when this blog came in quite handy. I found out that I can actually use what I’ve been doing here, having quite a few resources about the Israel-Taiwan connection, with loads of photos, videos and everyday life anecdotes.

If you’re interested - download the Israel country introduction general  Powerpoint presentation for the NCKU IEAS Taiwanese students.

I started off with talking a bit about Israel as the holy land with this next official Israel Tourism Office’s promotion campaign during 2007:

After some general stats, I showed another short promotion clip that I like about the paradoxical combination of old-new, modern-historic and business-chilled out etc. in Israel :

I talked about my area and Jerusalem, quickly going through people, sites and anecdote photos from all around Israel taken from my small photo collection(which can be found at my Israel photo gallery). Finally, I suggested a few more Chinese resources about Israel and showed a quick 2 minutes from the Taiwanese “World number 1″ visit to Israel with Violet:

After my presentation I had the pleasure of listening to Gambian Andrew talk about Gambia. All in all, it was a pleasurable evening. I hope the Taiwanese students had a good time.
