Taiwanese student clubs : IEAS snack sharing party

The Taiwanese students are just adorable. Somehow, they make me feel even older than I really am, and that’s old enough when it comes to university students.

Touring Tainan County : Nan-Kun-Shen Temple

Two of Taiwan’s finest bloggers and myself have went out on a short day-trip to Tainan County to have a look at Nan Kun Shen temple in a small village just next to Beimen. It’s interesting the kind of stories and experiences one gets to hear in such company - with both having lived in Taiwan for years and holding unique perspectives on local culture and people. Taiwanese peculiarities and interesting anecdotes

Almost everyday I encounter things here in Taiwan that are very different and a bit special about the way that the Taiwanese do things. Here are some examples.

I saw this while driving down a road and I had to stop take a look. This is, eh, indoor Taiwanese fishing. People sitting down indoors around an artificial pool and fishing. Some of those pools have fish, some have various kinds of sea-food. Somehow, although it’s quite crowded, the place is very quiet. I guess people like to think when they’re fishing… indoors…

The garbage truck system in Taiwan is probably one of the most annoying things here. I have nightmares …

Teacher’s Day at Confucius Temple Tainan

At 03:00am the alarm goes off. I just went to sleep not too long before that, so - being a bit fuzzy - I make my way into some cloths and out on the motorbike. The streets are quiet, with just a few 24 hours convenience stores, restaurants and pubs running in street corners. I park my car, yawn a few times, and slowly make my way into the Confucius Temple. It turns out the IMBA announcement on arriving at 03:30am was a bit off. I wondered around the temple and the Confucian teachers for about an hour before something actually happened.
