No, I’m not starving… I just find it extremely difficult to find the really good dishes around the huge Taiwanese menus in Chinese they hand me at the local restaurants. So, tonight, after receiving yet another mistake-surprise I figured I need some help and after contemplating this problem I thought that I can actually ask for help. And so, I announce the "Help Fili eat… better" Taiwan project.
Help me, dear friends and readers, get through the Taiwanese menus in the restaurants around this area. I know your Chinese is way better than mine, and you’ve been in Taiwan / China / HK / Singapore / China-towns for much longer than I have. I know the basic noodle and rice things, but not more than that :$. All I ask is that if you see a dish or item that you know and you like – then please translate it for me and the others.
So, following are a few menus in the NCKU-Tainan area. Please take a look at the following and write for us: The menu number, name of the dish you know in Chinese (maybe also Hanyu Pinyin?), and a quick translation to English. Hao ma? here we go :
Menu 1 – Beef noodle on Shengli road
Menu 2
Menu 3
Menu 4 – a breakfast place on Shengli road
Menu 5 – noodle shop on Daxue (university) road
Menu 6 – God of Cookery place on Shengli road
Menu 7
Menu 8 – noodle place on Shengli road
I wonder how that would work out
