Here’s a more lively look at the chosen new 7 wonders of the world :

This comes pretty close to the new seven wonders of the world I voted for in November 2006 : the "Pyramids of Giza, Egypt" were taken out of the competition since then as they’re the only surviving site of the ancient seven wonders of the world, and Angkor Wat hasn’t made it to the list.

Reading around the news about the new seven wonders of the world, I was especially fascinated with some of the alternative listings that some people and media websites suggested.

Newsweek is also suggesting some "man-made gems worth seeing"  as the new wonders of the world, and lists the "Taipei 101 in Taiwan" - the Taiwanese phallic monstrosity – as a wonder next to peculiarities like the "South China Shopping Mall" and huge construction projects like  "Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge" – the world’s longest suspension bridge.

Fodor has another interesting new wonders of the world suggestions with "Banaue Rice Terraces" (Banaue, Philippines), "Palenque" (Chiapas, Mexico),  "Tian Tan Buddha" (Hong Kong)new seven 7 wonders of the world : the alternatives - "Tian Tan Buddha" (Hong Kong), "Palm Islands" (Dubai, United Arab Emirates), "The Panama Canal" (Panama, Central America) "Guggenheim Museum" (Bilbao, Spain), "Walt Disney World" (Orlando, Florida), "Pueblo de Taos" (New Mexico), "Temple Expiation de la Sagrada Familia" (Barcelona, Spain) , "The Summer Palace" (Beijing, China), "Teotihuacan" (Mexico City, Mexico), "St. Peter’s Basilica" (Rome, Italy).

I love this stuff. Makes me very travel hungry. So many places to visit, so many things to see…
