I just delivered my first Business Culture seminar to a UK EMBA class; I agree most what you said, why not have more so you can have a bigger picture, you don’t need to believe them but you need to have the tool to pick up things work for you. Here is my sharing:
RADOR (recognise the difference, analyse it, decide it, overview it and react)
So, doing business in China:
•	Be sensitive
•	Be Respect
•	Be cultural aware the important of ‘Face’ and ‘GuanXi’, by getting the right guanxi, you minimise risks, frustrations, and disappointments associated with doing business in China.
•	Start a friendship, it is very attractive to business
•	In such centralised, bureaucratic state, from my experience, using personal relationship is the only way to get things done easily.
All the best and luck , hope see you succeed in whatever you are doing in China.

I've never been to one of those seminars, but my guess is that the speakers also feel that these seminars are of very limited value. It simply pays well nowadays, I suppose. There's a gold train heading to China and everyone wants to be on it.
