China’s Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe to open the Israel Festival in Jerusalem

The annual Israel Festival will be held in Jerusalem starting from the 24/05 till 10/06 and will include top arts and theater performances from all over the world. This year, the Chinese Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe will be opening the festival :

Artistic director Liang Zhong Yi

Israeli visitors to China have no doubt seen Chinese shows especially produced for tourists, and those who have yet to visit may have chanced on a visiting Chinese production in Israel in the past.  But the acrobatic troupe arriving from the Wuhan region – a part of China not on the regular tourist map – presents an exceptional and unrivaled performance. This is a huge company, with 60 artists on stage, featuring an extraordinary mix of artistic movement integrated with acrobatic exercises, most of which have yet to be seen in Israel.  This is a breathtaking and captivating performance – bringing the art of the circus to new heights, while presenting stories and characters from the rich, Chinese heritage.
The company has performed in Europe and America, and has consistently been received with outstanding success.
So bring the whole family – grandparents, parents and children – to an unforgettable performance.

The production will open both the Israel Festival and the Chinese Culture Festival, marking 15 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Accompanying the performing artists to Israel are six Chinese artists who will exhibit their paintings in the ICC foyer on the days of the performances, and at the arts fair to be held in the Sherover Plaza throughout the first two weeks of the festival.

where and when:
International Convention Center (Binyanei Ha-ooma) May 25 at 3:00 P.M, May 26 at 9:00 P.M.

Since all we usually get of Chinese culture in Israel is Hong-Kong movies, then - assuming we can really call this Chinese culture - it’s great that we get more of it.
