Violet - An Israeli blog about Taiwan in Chinese

Israeli blogs about Chinese culture are quite rare, Chinese/Taiwanese blogs about Israel are even harder to find, but what I thought I would never find is an Israeli writing about Chinese culture in Chinese. I don’t read that much Chinese and what I do read takes me a very long time and so the chances of me running into a Chinese blog written by an Israeli, should one really exist, was close to none. But, surprisingly enough, I have a few wonderful readers who like to share their findings with me, and so this is how I got the link to next one.

Who is she?

Chinese - 大家好！我是ＶＩＯＬＥＴ，來自以色列，住在以色列，目前是高中生。
我的國家～以色列～使用的是希伯來文，中文是因為媽媽希望我將來能夠成為一個具國際觀的人而開始學習，中國文字真是既複雜又難寫呢！
因緣際會來到這個園地，為了紀錄自己生活上的點點滴滴而開啟了這個ＢＬＯＧ，歡迎大家蒞臨指教！

Bad translation - Hi everybody, I’m Violet, and I’m a high-school student living in Israel. In Israel we use Hebrew, but my mom wanted me to study Chinese so I will have an international perspective. Chinese characters are really complicated and difficult to write. This is to write about my various thoughts and you’re all welcome to comment (help?! corrections are very welcomed).

I admit I’m really struggling with her Chinese. Her level is much better than mine, and probably better than most 3rd year university BA students that I know in Israel. At first I was a bit puzzled about why an Israeli girl would start studying Chinese and how she got to being able to write a Chinese blog about her life, but with a little outside help I realized that although her father is Israeli, her mother is probably Taiwanese. Still, writing in Chinese is an ongoing challenge, and I salute her for her wonderful Chinese Israeli blog. If only I would have such will-power to do the same myself. No doubt a post in Chinese every few days could do wonders to my Chinese.
