The World Map - Test your skills

How well do you know the world? think you know where every country is? Here’s a small game I came across to test your knowledge of the world map, demonstrating just how little we know about fellow countries and the big world .

I’m very embarrassed to say I got 40 :$

(It’s interesting to see that this map tries to avoid political issues like Taiwan and the Palestinian territories, and clicking on those doesn’t show up any names)

How well did you do ?

I got 68. I would like to think my knowledge of Geography is quite good, but there are many countries in Eastern Europe and some of the smaller African countries that I could not pinpoint.

I got lucky number 69 the first time through, but then did consecutively worse a couple times after… I mean, who the hell knows where Malawi is!?!??!

This great, and if you keep plugging away at it you will learn where Uzbekistan and Lesotho and Timor are. I started out with about an 89 and after ~25 tries made it to 100. To get 100 you not only have to get all 20 correct, but you have to be fast about it. Leave it to the Japanese to add that last twist …

You started off with 89 and made it to a 100? how?!

What I meant was, the first time I played I scored 89. If you keep playing, you eventually figure out where everything is. It may help to consult Wikipedia or Google Maps in between games.

Yeah, I understand. What I meant was that getting 89 on your first go shows great knowledge (which is very far from my 40).

You don’t have to consult Google Maps… when you’re not in “Play” mode, you can just click on a white spot and the application will tell you what country it is… :D

(corrected post … I hope)

Here is another interactive map that may be useful if you are trying to learn place names in Chinese. Warning — the audio is cheesy. On the other hand, if you ever wondered how the national anthem of Vanuatu sounds, this is the place for you. Check out the Greenland state emblem.

I’m a a sophmore in high school and My score was 94 but that’s mostly because in my AP Human Geography class we are required to know all of the countries. The major problem I have is SPEED! :)

Where’s China?…

Just came across this cool geography game thanks to Fili’s World blog. The game gives you maybe ten seconds to find a given country on an unmarked world map. Yes, Russia, China, the United States, and even France, Ethiopia, Sudan,…
