My Garden

Yesterday, five  in the afternoon,
we went with mom to the supermarket
and on the way we noticed,
that our garden is closed.

The swings stand,
between the tall trees,
and the flowers,
so low and colorless,
because our garden is closed.

Sleeping cubes lay in the basket,
there’s no-one to play.

There’s no nanny to say,
what’s wrong and what’s okay,
and all the books are sorted neatly on the shelf,
there’s no-one to listen to a story.

Sleeping cubes lay in the basket,
there’s no-one to play.

The swings stand,
between the tall trees,
and the flowers,
so low and colorless.

Yesterday, five in the afternoon,
we went with mom to the supermarket,
and on the way we noticed,
that our garden is closed.

It’s sad seeing that the garden is closed.

This Wednesday morning, all my sites were shut down by my hosting provider due to what can only be titled as "unexpected success". All the sites together were getting over 5000 hits a day, which was taking too many resources from the server I was hosted at. In the past few days since that, I’ve learned much about myself and had time to consider the current situation. My small web-experiments to form some small communities have taken a life of their own to evolve into something bigger than I thought they would.

It is still a dilemma for me, whether I want to turn this into more than just a hobby, but I can no longer avoid the fact that this is taking more of my time and energy than I ever expected it would, but - looking at the a positive side - it’s nice that your work is being used and appreciated. Some friends keep reminding me that there’s business potential in the whole thing, and that’s another thing to think about, but I know that I enjoy building projects more than I do maintaining and promoting them. There’s also somesort of obligation to those communities, like when the Chinese-Garden is down - my fellow students from the university can’t access their study material and discussions and when the Israelated site is down people who’re relying on the RSS for their blogging news no longer get updates. Up till a few weeks ago I was naive enough to think this is all for my fun and pleasure, and in a way it still is, only that it gets more complicated when other people are involved, and that worries me a bit. All in all, I hope this is behind me and that this blog and the various communities will be okay from now on. Time to get back on track…

Words are all meaningless, when you truly wish to express your gratitude…
