Available now is a new search tool for the China and Taiwan English blogsphere.
Background
I follow hundreds of China and Taiwan related English blogs and have come to acknowledge that they serve as a vital indispensable source of information for life in China and Taiwan. For a while now, I have been wondering how I could get all the China English blogsphere and the Taiwan English blogsphere into a community that would allow people, like myself, to easily find information from those blogs. The China Analyst (http://www.chinalyst.net) was my first project, listing more than 50 blogs, but since it’s a new community that blog owners join – it still doesn’t include many wonderful China/Taiwan blogs that are still hiding out there.
Every now and again there are some nice tools and projects that aim at helping to find China/Taiwan blogs, such as the RIP LivinginChina, China-Blog-List, Taiwan-Feed, Bloggers in Taiwan, Michael Turton blog collection.
Using Google’s powerful tools, I’d like to introduce a new simple tool I created for performing a search in China or Taiwan related English blogs. I’ve gathered all my RSS feed links, all the blogs registered in Chinalyst and in the projects mentioned above, plus many links from linkrolls and sidebars in the popular China/Taiwan blogs and have created a custom search for the China and Taiwan blogspheres.
The Search tool
This Search tool now covers over 400 China blogs and 400 Taiwan blogs (!).
Here, just give the search tool a test drive (requires that Javascript is enabled in your browser) :

I created a similar tool for Taiwan search using Google Tools: David’s Taiwan Search Engine.
It only covers about 30 sites, some of them are blogs others include English newspapers and sites like Forumosa. It should be useful for finding general information about Taiwan English.
You have included so many more sites though. I am sure yours will be more useful.

Oh, cool.
Yeah, this tool is just about blogs. I really think that for Taiwan and China blogs are the best source for information, any information, though I agree that communities like Forumosa are a great addition as well.
(Your blog’s looking great, BTW
)

Good stuff.
Over at virtualreview, I’m archiving all the stories but the search is still very basic. I’ll be using this to see if I can find some new and interesting blogs!
Cheers,
Steve
