Israel is in the (western) middle east, but it seems that the Israeli culture is more Mediterranean and western that it is middle-eastern, which might have do with Israeli history. Oddly enough, for political reasons - when it comes to sports and economics, Israel is "considered" Europe, and anybody visiting Israel notices that Israeli culture is highly influenced by the US big-brother. You’re right, ofcourse.
