- "That's it, it was time to leave that wonderful island (The Isle of White).
- A boat trip from Yarmouth to Lymngton.
- In the visitor's center, they forward me to Jane. Quote : "Jerusalem? praise the lord! for I do believe it's the lord that sent you here". Jane fixes me up with an elderly couple with a gorgeous house, and the husband tells me wondrous tales of the time he served in Israel during the British mandate before 1948 (20 pounds for the night).
- A trip to Lyndherst. A visit to the small museum.
- Hiring a bike for half a day. A very long trip through the "New Forest" - an amazing reservoir with giant trees and wild horses. Lots of squirls and deers, with numerous bike trails. Stopping at "Rheinfield House" and "Knightwood oak" (500 years old trees).
- Going back to Lyminton and a short tour of the city.
- Chitchatting with the elderly couple while we all watch the bizarre "Dad's army"."
Last time I went to the UK, I wasn't planning on staying there very long. It was just suppose to be a short stop on the way to see my friend who was studying in Julliard-New-York. But, things never quite happen the way you plan them, and on September 11th the American went through that big catastrophe and all my plans suddenly had to change as Virgin wouldn't continue my flight from London to New York.
So, I was left to wonder around England for a few weeks on my own till they finally resumed the air-connection. Since in those days I still didn't know much about blogging, I did it a bit different with my small diary where I wrote a few sentences every night detailing my British adventures. Day 7 in the "New Forest" area is just the page I landed on when I opened the notebook. Let's try another one…
24/09/2001 - the bath day
- "Starting off with the "Roman Bath", the natural spas the Romans built in 40AD. A guided tour inside, explanations on the historic layers of that place.
- A city tour with a nice old man who did an a wonderful job of telling the tales of Nash and Wood who turned Bath from a dumpster into the city it is today : Cathedral, Heritage city, Bath houses, Nash's house, Royal Crescent, The Circus, Assembly Rooms, northern bridge etc.
- A tour on an open bus throughout the city.
- A tour of the museum of clothing from the 16th century - The impossible micro-world.
- Joining up with a Ghost walk, a funny tour of inner bath with tales of ghosts and supernatural with an historical perspective. They played a few amusing tricks on us.
- Back to the B&B (30 pounds a night)."
Whhaoo… seems like I was a really good tourist

I'll be heading to London-UK on the 12th of August for about a month to be with a very special someone from Taiwan, who'll be staying there for a few years studying art. I was able to track down some British folks I've met during my Asia year in Vietnam/Taiwan who I was sure I'll never see again and that now there's a good chance that we'll meet while I'm there. Anybody want to meet up in the UK?
I'm really looking forward to that, can hardly wait.
