“Don’t you think fiLi has completely gone mad? he doesn’t watch normal movies any more…”.

On my 10th grade I did my Cinmateq subscription and I’ve been a movie addict ever since. For me, there’s nothing like the sensation of watching a film.
I don’t know about normal, but I do admit that my taste in movies has changed a bit to a slightly different course just before heading out to Asia, and so - in the past year and a half or so - I especially enjoy watching Asian films.
Every now and again a friend of mine would ask for recommendations of Asian films and I would usually say although I haven’t seen that many yet s/he should try XYZ.
Lately, I’ve come across Mei11’s wonderful Chinese movie listing of the “Everything Chinese” Israeli forum, and I’m slowly trying to fill in the gap with the movies mentioned.
Not that I can recall all of the movies that I saw, but I’ll start a list in this post of the ones I can, and maybe add some info later on.

“The Promise” and its director, Chen Kaige, will be here for the Jerusalem film festival, if you find this kind of info interesting.

(in the House of Nations, eh?
The thing about this movie is that my Taiwanese friends really didn’t care for it much, and some even said that it’s a bit pathetic. All the foreigner friends were very excited talking about it as “the best Chinese one yet”.
Either way, it’s something that everybody’s visual senses will enjoy.
Thanks for the tip.

I don’t think it’s a good movie, either. It’s like he’s trying to join a trend a minute before it’s over, but some of his earlyer movies are great, and besides - how many Chinese directors come here?
