Mountains rising over a long stream of small waterfalls with a relaxing sound of flowing water. From within the steam colors of blue, white and green mix together in harmony. Comforting heat embraces you, the smell and feel of minerals softly teasing your senses, beauty in your arms, you feel you’re in paradise.

After a few days of rain and cold, Mother Nature has mercifully blessed us with two wonderful days of sunshine. There was an appointment I was supposed to go to after class, but I figured that a day like this one is worth doing something a bit different.

Take the MRT down to Xindian MRT station by the lovely Xindian river waterfront, then transfer to a 20 minute bus and you’re at the Aboriginal town of Wulai. While ruling the country for about 50 years till mid 20th century, the Japanese have introduced many interesting things to Taiwan, but of all things I’m most grateful for their hotsprings legacy. Wulai is a hotsprings resort town, located within a pastoral view of mountains (somewhat similar to the outskirts of Jerusalem). You could take the public nude bathes, male and female separated, but since I’m still a little shy about the major differences between the locals’ looks and myself’s and prefer to be with my girl, then we went on for the private room deluxe.

Soaking around in cool weatherwithin the hot mineral water bath extending to an open balcony showing gorgeous view with my girl at my side was an experience to be long remembered.
