Thai culture…
.
I’ve got this Bangkok life routine all settled. It starts off with the awful Chabad House in the morning for the internet job search till about noon and then, after feeling that I’ve done all that I can in the serious life, I’m off to get a glimpse of the city.
The whole job hunt thing sucks. It’s bad enough doing this in Israel, but doing it while you feel that you’re on vacation is frustrating. It also brings back some distant bad memories of the hectic IT life in Israel (http://www.globes.co.il/serve/globes/docviewasp?did=1000024513&fid=594). Funny thing is that I’m realizing these things take a while. Only now, almost 3 weeks since I’ve left Australia, am I being noticed by Australian companies I’ve applied to. It’s frustrating to suddenly get requests for interviews at Sydney, and I’m thinking that this whole process might be just as bad in Asia. Reading others experiences I now know that the process of finding a job takes time (even if I were to look for a job in Israel). Only exception for foreigners might be teaching English, but somehow I can’t picture myself doing that. Why do we need to work, anyways?
Yet, in the meanwhile, Bangkok and I are getting closer. Starting at the Golden Temple up on a mountain with a great breeze and some nice city views I went further by foot down to the flower market crossing some nice parks with people doing mass-aerobics lessons and some other exotic love-potions markets. It’s been a while since I’ve been an attraction in Vietnam so it’s weird getting all that attention from the Bangkok girls. My guards have loosened up since my last visit here and it has apparent implications on how I react to their interest. It just might be an interesting way to experience Thai culture, wouldn’t it?
