Just another day…

.

It’s just another one of those days. Yeah, those days. You know, a day, coming after a different day that is only different because the clock points to a new date, but where – other than that, it is a day just like the one before. “Those days” suggests that this another day isn’t another all alone. Oh no, it got friends, reoccurrences, that makes it belong to a very prestigious club of days that are just another day. Naturally, if it’s not the first another day, and they even have a club, then you should have gotten used to them days, not minding that another just another day comes in to say Hi. Yet, that’s the thing about them. …

Human nature

.
(Some stories that I may or may not have heard from different people while I’m in Saigon)

This fat western guy was coming down the stairs and walked straight up to me and the rest of the security boys. “Excuse me guys, I’m in a bit of a situation… I need…. a condom…’. Security guys or not, we get requests like that all the time, so I headed for my “special needs” box, gave him a condom for a good sum of money and sent him off his way. Two minutes later we got a call and when I picked up he screamed “Jesus, you !@$!@^ Vietnamese. What did you give me? Do I look like I’m ‘small size’ to you? …

Mayday, mayday. Man down… man down…

.

(Warning: the next text is not full of adventure and description of 3rd world life. It’s even a little disgusting and to be honest – a little embarrassing to write about – I have no idea why… maybe it’s because I don’t like to write about my weaknesses. )

It’s not my month. Not lucky, I guess.

I was about to let the whole thing go, thinking it’s some kind of flu that would pass through, but – thank heavens above – Jessy has insisted we should visit a hospital to make sure. It’s not only us that got it hard, it’s also the 3 security guards in my previous hotel and god knows whom else in the area. How this thing …

Some really good times …

.

Lonely Planet has devoted half a page saying in so many words that there is no apparent reason for any one to want to visit this place other than experiencing the competition to Saigon’s sex tourism. “Vung Tau? Are you absolutely sure?”, the dreams still laying at Singapore, thinking that there’s no way Lonely Planet could be that far off. She looked a little offended, blushing a bit and raising her eyebrows in a questioning deep look, but then soon came the sweet smile and the slow nod indicating that I should let my western prejudice off and go along with my instincts so far to let her guide our way.

It wasn’t very clear how the whole thing is going …

Living in Saigon…

.

I didn’t have much energy to write ever since the accident, maybe because I felt like there wasn’t too much to write about, maybe because I was exhausted. To try and make up - I’ll try and force myself to write something a bit longer this time.

My routine day lately is to sleep in till very late - sometimes after mid-noon - go get a long late brunch, maybe sit down on the internet for a while and then wonder around Saigon aimlessly looking for adventures. Some days I would just catch another action-movie from the very limited selection of English movies they show here, sometimes I would play Chinese Chess or cards with anonymous in the park, maybe visit …

And the reply…

Oh, she is so sweet… I couldn’t have hoped for a better reply

==================================

hi,

I’m really glad I had a chance to check my mail again, so I can reply quickly. It sounds like you’re having a special experience and I totally understand your wanting to pursue it. There is no problem in changing the plans to work with me starting this fall. It’s not a problem at all, and I am truly happy for you.

I’m sure you understand that I cannot promise anything about the future — simply because I may agree to work with others — but if we do get a chance to do it I’d be glad to.

Take care and have a great time,
